Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago (TTIC) is seeking a part-time Outreach Facilitator to join our team. The role of the Outreach Facilitator is to develop, plan, and implement outreach programs, initiatives, and events to engage underrepresented students and scholars at different educational stages. The Outreach Facilitator collaborates with TTIC stakeholders to maintain and broaden programs with partner organizations that promote computer science education to traditionally underserved students and the local community.
Duties
Take a leading role in the development and implementation of department outreach programs and initiatives, including planning and designing curricula and logistics as needed.
Assists with supervision of student/community volunteers by providing work direction, coordination of schedules, and feedback on performance.
Help to identify groups within the local community (e.g., schools, libraries, museums, and after-school programs) whose interests and needs (those of the administrators, teachers, and students) align with TTIC’s capabilities and objectives with regards to community outreach and broadening participation.
Take a leading role in the development and implementation of future department outreach programs and initiatives, including planning and design curricula and logistics as needed.
Assist faculty in incorporating K-12 educational activities and Broadening Participation in Computing plans into grant proposals.
Qualifications
Previous experience of 5+ years with outreach programs and activities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to handle public contacts with tact and courtesy.
Ability to work autonomously and independently, with excellent follow-through.
Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
Proactive and strategic approach to problem solving with foresight into possible issues and strong decision-making abilities.
Computer knowledge sufficient to effectively use administrative computer applications including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Google Applications (Calendar, Gmail, Spreadsheets).
